avoid USsearch.com if you actually want to find people
i tried to use the services of US search this summer on behalf of a relative searching for a wayward business partner. after receiving an order confirmation email from US search, the people-finding company proceeded to fail to display any competence in the area of finding things, specifically any information i emailed them. i attempted to point this out to their customer service people, but they continued to be clueless. the following comical exchange of emails represents all of my conversations with US search:

Hi, I was never given a “search ID #”. I was given an order confirmation number and an order tracking number. I have attached a PDF of the order page I see when I track my order on your website. With this, and the information I supplied in my previous emails (see below), you now have every piece of information I received from US Search. If you people can’t locate your own records with all this information, then I don’t know why I ever thought you could locate a person for me.

Hi,
You are surely familiar with your business’ own policies, wherein you do not charge my credit card on file until you find the address of the lost person. I am aware that I have not been charged yet for anything. I am not asking for a refund. I just want to make sure I don’t see a charge show up in three months whenever you get around to fulfilling my order. Please cancel the requested search now.
Thanks!

Hi, I am copying below the text of an email I received with the subject line: “Order Confirmation.” This is how I got the crazy idea that an order was placed on your system. Perhaps I placed the order in Bizarro World, because it sure feels like I am taking some extra strength crazy pills.
Please let me know if it is still my fault that you people have no idea what happened to my order.

To: cservice@ussearch.comAnswer me these questions three:
(1) Was the email I received (subject line: “order confirmation”) meant to confirm my order, or was is that just a joke you like to play on your customers?
(2) I copied that “confirmation” email to you in a previous email. You can find it below. Again, I am wondering: Did I ever successfully place an order with ussearch.com?
(3) In said “confirmation” email, I received two numbers. One was labeled an “order confirmation number” and the other an “order tracking number.” These are the only two numbers I’ve received from you. Am I missing any number that you typically send out to your customers?
“answer me these questions three” is an allusion to monty python. given their overall level of incompetence, i cannot assume US search recognized this, but nevertheless, at this point, they did not respond.
Hahahaha… You gotta love customer support in India!
[…] travis created an interesting post today on avoid USsearch.com if you actually want to find people. Here’s a short outline:You are surely familiar with your business’ own policies, wherein you do not charge my credit card on file until you find the address of the lost person. I am aware that I have not been charged yet for anything. … […]
hahaha Whenever I get an Indian person on the phone I ask if there are any Americans there. If not, I ask for a number for an American line. If they can not provide either of the above, then I hang up and call back at a later time hoping to reach a call center in the USA.
Believe everything Travis has said and demonstrated about ussearch.com. I should have known better when I came to a site that looked like amazon.com but with fuzzy, cheap graphics and poorly designed and restrictive account management tools.
I just called to have my credit card info removed and they said that was not possible and hung up on me. I called back and they hung up again. The third call, I was put on hold for 10 minutes (intentionally I am sure) and then the same combative and rude dingbat answered. After I got her name (Betty she said, yeah right), I asked if she was going to hang up on me too. It was so funny, because she started to break her accent into an urban (Oh no you didn’t) kind of cadence but then recovered and asked if I wanted her supervisor.
Bottom line, I do not understand how a company can treat paying customers so poorly and stay in business.

IF YOU SAY “Thank you for your e-mail; we appreciate your inquiry and value your concerns” ONE MORE TIME… I WILL GO THERE AND BURN THAT F*** COMPANY WITH ALL OF YOU INSIDE, SO NOW CANCEL MY F*** ORDER!!!!
Wow I have never ever encountered such an unprofessional customer support team in my life…LOL with my situation i did a reverse phone look up and they emailed me back stating that the phone number was out of order or incorrect….so I called the number myself and shockingly it rang and went to the persons voice mail…..He has a restricted number block on his phone so you cannot call from a private phone I informed ussearch of this and they sent me another email stating that when they called it said cannot complete call as dialed…..I called the number again and again it rang and voice mail picked up….I cannot believe this company actually calls themself a search company as they cant find their way out of a room with 1 door. LOL never ever use this company

Respect,
the post office box # you gave me on aboubaker is only a mailing address for his clints to pay there bills. he has moved from bonham tx for good. i need to know where he moved to.
This sounds about right. I’m going through a Paypal dispute of charges to these f___ers about their crappy joke of a report that anyone can get for free from the Whitepages.com. I was looking for actual information like Current phone #’s and address. As a test I got a report on myself, which did not have my current address or ANY phone numbers. I can call 411 and get more info. Their web page looks compelling but they are another bend over and take scam site. I think their actually are services that businesses can order for this kind of information but it probably costs hundreds not 39.99… AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m glad I came here before I placed an order with USsearch.com, this saved me a lot of time and money. Any good sites worth looking into in order to find a lost co-worker?
don, after the US search debacle, i used locatepeople.com and they found the dude i was looking for in like 4 or 5 weeks.
don, i used http://www.thesearchgods.com, and they were great, a real PI firm runs this site. found my person quick.

This company clearly sucks, their e-mail template gets really irritating after few replies. USSearch was sued (and fiend $250k) for a good reason.
I used US Search a few years back and received excellant service however; I just recently used the service and received the same frustrations as everyone else has. Thank you for your comments it brought me a lot of humor this morning.
I purchased info about three days ago, that info was supposed to be placed in my e-mail, the info never showed. I’ve spoken to you people several times and nobody can tell me anything and when they do that info is wrong. Can someone tell me where my MONEY is or WHERE my INFO IS???????????? It shows the amount was taken days ago off my credit card!!!!!!!! Is this some kind of scam? Im a single mother of four trying to find my lost family, and everyone of my pennies count! Can someone respond in a timely fashion being you didnt hesitate on taking my money no matter how much it was!!!!!!!!!!
I found out if I want my phone number online I have to pay 35.00 to these crooks. If I was lying in the gutter unconscious in need of help and someone needed to call my wife, kids, and had a blackberry they would need my credit card too, and as poor as we are it would get denied too.
I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE, I DONT EVEN GOT ONE SINGLE RESULT AND I WAS CHARGED 3 MONTS. SO I WANT TO CANCEL ANY AGREEMENT I HAD MADE WITH US SEARCH THANKS FOR MAKE ME PAY THAT MONEY AND GET NOTHING.
I WANT TO CANCEL ANY AGRREMENT I HAD WITH US SEARCH SO DONT CHARGE ME ANY MORE PLEASE.
I wass looking for my brothe in law and all the had was an addressthat is about 10 years old. I have his old address.
I am looking for a person and the information I received was not of any help. Please contact me because I have address where this person is living now.
I used ussearch too ,i did a reverse phone number check on my own phone number and they couldn’t even get that right!Thet gave a a person living 50 miles from me with a different name! When informed them they said they used the wrong are code by mistake.I then did a second check and it was also the wrong person.
Hi, It is likely this posting is off topic but anyways, I’ve gone browsing about your web site and it looks very neat. It is obvious that you know your topic and you seem fervent about it. I?m setting up a new site plus I’m struggling to make it look good, and also provide quality writing. I have gleaned much at your web site in addition to I anticipate a great deal more quality information and will be back soon. Many thanks.
I just paid for a detailed report! What a SCAM!!!! All I got was the address which I already knew, criminal records supposedly checked…. no phone number, no relatives, no past addresses. I’ve just been ripped off and that will be a good lesson I won’t forget.
Hello USSearch.com, I order creminal bakround serch for me from you to see what peepol see about me. I pay 39.95 & you send me rong informashon. You say I murder only two peepol, but I did not murderd nobody. I kill only 3 peepol! They got me mad! Now you got me mad! I need to know where you live! Plese be kind and tell me. sank you.
I have a 68 year old half brother, who by family has heard from only a couple of times in the past 55 years, and out of nowhere he shows up at my elderly parents home a couple of weeks ago and is now calling them several times a week. He may just be trying to make up for a lifetime of ignoring our mother and allowing himself to be dominated by his father’s family, but he is a very smooth talker and since no one in my family knows this guy I would like to find out as much about him as I can in an effort to protect my parents. Is there a website out there that is trust worthy and can actually deliver acurate information on someone? As far as I can tell USSearch is the only online Background Search business that is BBB certified. It shocks me that they can have an A+ certification from the BBB and have such a poor performance record. Please help if you can.
