marion cotillard on 9/11

her remarks make me wonder why she is wasting her gigantic brain as an actress. she needs to be employed in a thinking profession:

Oscar winner Marion Cotillard raised eyebrows around the world Saturday when it emerged that she doubted the official account of the 9/11 attacks.

“I think we’re lied to about a number of things,” Cotillard said during an interview with a French television program, singling out the World Trade Center attacks as an example of conspiracy by the United States government for political ends.

“We see other towers of the same kind hit by planes. Are they burned? There was a tower, I believe it was in Spain, that burnt for 24 hours. It never collapsed. None of these towers collapsed. And there [in New York], in a few minutes, the whole thing collapsed.”

The 32-year-old French actress jeopardized the good will created by her Oscar win by suggesting that the towers, planned in the early 1960s, were an outdated “money sucker” that would have cost more to update than to destroy.

“It was a money-sucker because they were finished, it seems to me, by 1973, and to re-cable all that, to bring up-to-date all the technology and everything, it was a lot more expensive, that work, than destroying them,” she said.

Cotillard also weighed in on the 1969 moon landings, saying, “Did a man really walk on the moon? I saw plenty of documentaries on it, and I really wondered. And in any case I don’t believe all they tell me, that’s for sure.” [source: ny daily news]

yes, concocting an elaborate farce, tricking osama bin laden into claiming responsibility for it, and then spend $9 billion per month in iraq is surely less expensive than re-cabling a couple of skyscrapers!

thanks for sharing, genius!

oh, and by the way, the world trade center complex was privately owned. the US government would not have paid to retrofit the buildings.

  1. Dr. Richard Kimball

  2. We just shouldn’t be giving celebrities a platform. Who are they and what have they done to have a valuable opinion?

And Dr. Kimball’s video is hilarious…

excellent video! and i am sorry, but i disagree with ryan. we should definately give hollywood a platform. i mean they bring us amazing entertainment like big brother 27 and the like. what better group of people to comment on world affairs than they who spend all day pondering what it means to be a role model while simultatiously trying to find a positive spin and benenfit for checking themselves into rehab.
i don’t know about everyone else, but that is the group of people i would like to tell me how i should think and what i should believe.
i say stand up cotillard and tell me what you really think! i’d love to hear about how we have nothing to worry about anymore in cuba or russia and all is well. or, maybe she and all her friends in hollywood can just stick to making okay movies and continue opening their mouths so we have something to laugh at.
